History of this area :

During the 16th century, this area was an important turning point for the business of gold.

Caravans coming from Sudan used to carry gold powder and stop at the office customs : Ksar el Aloui 

(you can see its vestiges). This gold was changed in coins and sent to Marrakech.

  Tamnougalte Ksar :

Tamnougalte ksar is located in the Draa's Valley.

It gathers several kasbahs. 

The most famous is the residence of the Lord Kaid 

who exercised his authority over the areas of the center

and the south of the Atlas.

Its geographical situation made it a commercial crossroads held by Jews during the 17th century.

   Architecture

Tamnougalte is famous for its Kasbahs which have a specific architecture. 

Students from great schools of Spain and Belgium come to study there or for training. 

This landscape attracts a huge numbers of film makers and producers from all over the world for films and documentaries (mostly English and working for the BBC)
